Skydev Solutions Inc. Masterclass held during the Hack, Play, & Learn Summit 2025
On October 21, 2025, I attended the Skydev Solutions Inc. Masterclass held during the Hack, Play, & Learn Summit 2025. The event brought together professionals and students to explore emerging ideas in technology, innovation, and cybersecurity. It was an engaging and informative experience that showcased how diverse the IT field truly is.
The first session, led by Mr. Marlon Tayag, was titled “Free Isn’t Free: The Real Cost of Passwords, Posts, and Sketchy Freebies.” His talk emphasized the hidden cybersecurity risks behind oversharing and the false sense of security that often comes with “free” online services. A representative from Converge SME Solutions then discussed “Cyber Defense for Business,” focusing on data protection and business continuity strategies.
After the lunch break, Sir Arvin Bordios demonstrated Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) using GitHub Actions, showing how automation streamlines software development. The masterclass continued with several exciting topics including Game Development by Mark Manuel, Game Feel and Juice by Romeo John Perez, UI/UX Principles by Fatrizha Alejah Boongaling, and an introduction to VIM by Sir Phee-Jae Aeydrian Salas. Each session offered unique insights that broadened my understanding of both technical and creative aspects of IT.
Key Learnings
The masterclass provided valuable lessons that deepened my appreciation for cybersecurity, development practices, and design principles. I learned that cybersecurity isn’t just about systems
it’s about people. Being mindful of what we share online and using strong passwords are simple yet powerful ways to stay secure.
The CI/CD session helped me understand how automation enhances development workflows by reducing errors and improving efficiency. The talks on UI/UX and Game Development highlighted how creativity and technical skills work hand-in-hand to deliver engaging digital experiences. I also gained insights into API security, documentation, and technical debt management is important yet often overlooked aspects of sustainable software development.
Practical Takeaways
After attending the masterclass, I was inspired to apply several lessons in both my personal habits and professional projects. I plan to enhance my online safety by using password managers, being cautious of phishing attempts, and limiting the amount of personal information I share publicly.
In development work, I aim to utilize GitHub Actions for automating builds and deployments through CI/CD pipelines. For design-focused projects, I’ll apply the UI/UX principles I learned to create cleaner, more user-friendly interfaces. Additionally, I’ll ensure that API endpoints are properly secured through token validation and encryption to strengthen data protection in future systems.
Positive Feedback
The Skydev Solutions Inc. Masterclass was exceptionally well-organized and covered a wide range of topics relevant to today’s IT landscape. Each speaker brought valuable experience and presented their topics in an engaging and understandable way. The event’s pacing was smooth, and the inclusion of a lighthearted icebreaker helped create a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. Overall, it was a well-balanced mix of learning and inspiration.
Suggestions for Improvement
The event was excellent overall, but adding short Q&A sessions after each talk could make it even more interactive. This would give participants the opportunity to ask specific questions and gain deeper insights from the speakers. It would also be helpful if digital copies of presentations or recorded sessions were shared afterward, allowing attendees to review and reflect on the lessons in more detail. Despite that, the masterclass was a memorable experience that expanded my knowledge and strengthened my enthusiasm for the IT field.
