Keyboard Pioneers: Introduction to AWS

On October 18, 2025, we successfully organized our first-ever webinar titled “Introduction to AWS,” with Mr. Moshe Dimawala Adormeo as our guest speaker. We were introduced to him through our team leader, who also happened to be his capstone adviser. After a brief conversation about his background and expertise, we invited him to speak for our event, and he graciously accepted.

He chose to discuss Amazon Web Services (AWS) and introduce the fundamentals of cloud computing. The goal of the session was to help participants understand how AWS works, how cloud services are managed, and how small applications can be built and secured using various cloud tools.

The program began with an opening prayer, followed by Mr. Adormeo’s talk, “AWS 101: Build, Secure, and Clean Up a Tiny App.” He explained AWS’s global infrastructure, pricing models, and essential security practices such as Identity and Access Management (IAM). One of the highlights of the webinar was his live demonstration, where he showed how to deploy a simple web application using Amazon S3 and how AWS Lambda functions operate in real time.

Key Learnings

This webinar helped me gain a clearer understanding of cloud computing and why AWS has become a leading choice for organizations today. One of the most important concepts I learned was the shared responsibility model, which emphasizes that AWS secures the cloud infrastructure, but users are still responsible for protecting their own data, configurations, and permissions. This reminded me that even when using advanced cloud platforms, maintaining good security habits is essential.

I also appreciated the discussion on AWS pricing and how the Free Tier allows beginners to experiment with services without immediate financial pressure. This makes cloud learning more accessible and encourages exploration, especially for students and first-time developers.

Practical Application of Learnings

After the webinar, I immediately applied what I learned by creating my own AWS account using the Free Tier. With the guidance from the session, I was able to build a simple website with cloud storage an experience that made me appreciate how powerful and convenient AWS tools are.

Moving forward, I plan to continue exploring cloud services and integrate them into my future projects. Having hands-on experience with AWS gives me more confidence to build scalable and secure systems.

Positive Feedback

The Introduction to AWS webinar turned out to be a meaningful and successful learning experience. Mr. Adormeo explained the topics clearly and used real-world examples that made the concepts easier to understand. His live demo added excitement to the session and helped participants visualize how cloud tools work in practice. Despite a few minor technical issues at the start, the overall flow of the event was smooth and well-handled.

Suggestions for Improvement

For future events, we plan to ensure that all technical equipment and audio settings are thoroughly tested before the program begins, to avoid interruptions during the talk. We also want to improve our time management so we can allocate more space for Q&A or open discussions even if participants are initially hesitant to ask. These adjustments will help future webinars become more interactive and engaging.
